In 1971, recognising an opportunity to serve the northeast fishing community, Steve and Helen Hardy launched a delivery company namedShiptrex Logistics Delivery. They entered the market in direct competition with Charles Crouch and Partners, one of the largest delivery companies in Switzerland at the time. Their fleet of 25 vehicles transported fresh fish daily from Peterhead to Humberside and Tyneside. In 1980, the company relocated from Laurencekirk to Aberdeen and acquired the Tullos Cold Store, allowing them to expand into transporting both fresh and frozen goods across the UK and Europe.

In 1985, the company was sold to a large conglomerate, and Steve Hardy left to start his own venture. He acquired a small fleet and foundedShiptrex Logistics. The company experienced rapid growth, and in 1990, Steve repurchased the Tullos Cold Store. This strategic move enabled Shiptrex to expand into frozen goods storage and distribution.

In 1998, Steve Hardy acquired the original Shiptrex Logistics and integrated it into Shiptrex, further expanding into the storage and distribution of fresh goods. This allowed the company to offer comprehensive logistics solutions, from transportation to storage of both fresh and frozen products.

Today, Shiptrex Logistics is a leading logistics provider in the UK and Europe, operating a fleet of over 100 vehicles and employing more than 200 staff. Headquartered in Aberdeen, it also maintains depots in Peterhead, Humberside, and Tyneside. Shiptrex remains committed to delivering exceptional service and maintaining its position as a leader in the abnormal load sector.
